My students finish their first project

11.02.09 Posted in Uncategorized by

I’m 14 weeks into teaching a talented class ‘Intoduction to Digital Studio Techniques’.
The class are responding well to having a bona fide full-time freelancer imparting pearls of hard-earnt industry wisdom. The lessons are moving along at a fair clip and I’m building up a nice portfolio of self researched and designed course handouts. I picked up the couse outline from where a departing tutor left off from, but I have made the learning criteria specifically aligned to industry-required knowledge.
Here is a quick clip of our first portfolio piece; digital self-portraits. Turn it up and enjoy!

Helping to prepare young creatives for industry

08.10.09 Posted in Uncategorized by

I am now a contract tutor at the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT).

Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology has campuses in Nelson and Blenheim, each offering programmes that complement the business and industry demands of the area.

I’m teaching ‘Intoduction to Digital Media Process’ every Tuesday, between 9am-3pm from now until the end of the year. I am also mentoring and preparing select final year design students for the industry.

Industry was very good to me during my final year of design studies at AUT back on the 90s’. As a result I have always had an open-door policy in my studio for design students. I strongly believe that learning creatives derserve every opportunity to learn relevant and industry standard studio techniques.
