Is it getting hot in here or is it just me?

05.14.09 Posted in climate change, NIWA by

I’m not partaking in this Recession; my freelance studio has been extremely busy of late.
The scientists at NIWA (National Institute of Water & Atmospheric Research) asked me to put together their (inaugural) Conference Handbook last week. I have just heard that they are ‘thrilled’ with the finished result and the efficient way that it was put together.
Jobs like this appeal to my sense of design discipline because they require:
• attention to typographic detail
• input from a professional body
• fast turn around.

Designing with Principals in mind

05.09.09 Posted in Annual Conference, New Zealand Principals Federation, NZPF by

I had the job of designing a look for the New Zealand Principals’ Federation Annual Conference last week. The conference this year will be in Palmerston North – home of windfarms!
Check out the resulting handbook cover design below. Now I need to start work on the t-shirt, coffee cup, mousemat, pen and satchel – whew!

CAANZ Media Awards 2009

05.02.09 Posted in awards, caanz, media by

My multimedia skills were put to good use again at the 2009 CAANZ Media Awards on Friday night.
The (much loved) NBR Best Dressed Award was presented by Paul Henry and Todd Scott at the end of the first half of the show. This gives me only 45 minutes to:
• filter 220 fashion shots from a ‘red carpet’ shoot during the awards reception
• put a dynamic slideshow together
• create a finalists slide – see below
Over 500 media buyers attended this years awards at Sky City.

You can view last years awards clip here.
